Overview
Tanya Tyer Smitherman was born in Lubbock, Texas. She has practiced civil trial law in Texas for 27 years. She is experienced in general civil litigation, products liability, medical malpractice and hospital liability defense, trucking and automobile litigation, premises liability, wrongful death, and pharmaceutical and medical device litigation. Along with Vic Henry, she serves as National Coordinating Counsel for a national company maintaining defense of toxic tort product litigation in multiple states. Ms. Smitherman served many years as lead counsel and first chair trial counsel for a large hospital system in Dallas, and she has handled matters involving medical committee and medical peer review committee privileges and has represented medical professionals in matters pending before their Texas State Boards. Additionally, she has experience in the areas of insurance coverage and first party insurance disputes.
